‘Bill the Bastard’, a massive Waler horse, was the first Australian equine to receive the Blue Cross Award. At the Battle of Romani, Bill carried his rider and four Tasmanian soldiers over 3km to safety under fire, an act of strength, courage, and intelligence that saved lives.
