The Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation (AWAMO) invites individuals, schools, communities, RSLs, and organisations to take part in creating lasting tributes through the hosting or funding of a War Animal Memorial.

Why Host a Memorial?

Every memorial tells a story — of bravery, loyalty, and the vital role animals played alongside Australian and Allied forces.

How You Can Get Involved:

Host a Memorial:

Work with AWAMO to identify a suitable location and design. We provide guidance, plaques, and materials to ensure the memorial meets our national standards.

Fund a Memorial:

Make a meaningful contribution to support the construction or restoration of memorials across Australia and abroad — from Pozieres, France, to the Kokoda Trail and beyond.

Sponsor a Plaque or Wreath:

Honour a specific animal, unit, or theatre of war with a dedicated plaque or purple poppy wreath.

Our Support

AWAMO assists communities throughout the process — from concept and approvals to installation and dedication ceremonies.

We also supply educational materials and promotional resources to help raise awareness locally.
