AWAMO proudly supports Zoos Victoria’s Guardian Dog Program, which trials the use of specially trained Maremma dogs to protect the endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot. These dogs form bonds with both sheep and bandicoots, keeping the animals safe from predators and giving bandicoots a chance to establish sustainable populations outside feral-proof enclosures. By funding this program, AWAMO contributes to the survival of one of Australia’s most threatened native species.
Through these international and local projects, AWAMO demonstrates its commitment to protecting wildlife, enhancing animal welfare, and creating opportunities for people and animals to thrive together. Whether it’s supporting frontline rangers in Sri Lanka, building inclusive play spaces for Australian children, or helping conserve endangered species in Africa, New Zealand, and Australia, AWAMO’s work reflects both compassion and action. By standing with communities, conservationists, and carers, AWAMO ensures that its contributions leave a lasting impact – protecting heritage, preserving species, and honouring the vital connection between humans and animals across the world.
