Animals have stood beside humans through war, disaster, and hardship. Today, many of our own companions rely on us in moments of danger, especially as extreme weather events become more frequent and intense.
At the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation, we honour the loyalty and sacrifice of animals in service. That same sense of duty calls on us to protect the animals who share our homes and lives.

Extreme heat can be deadly for pets.
Signs of heat stress include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse. If you notice these symptoms, seek veterinary help immediately.

Prepare an emergency plan that includes your animals.
If evacuation is required, take your animals with you whenever it is safe to do so. Animals left behind face significant risk and distress.

Cold snaps can be just as dangerous as heat.

A Shared Responsibility
Animals in war depended on humans for care amid chaos. Today, our pets depend on us in the face of nature’s extremes. Protecting them is an act of gratitude, compassion, and respect for the bond we share.
By planning ahead and staying informed, we can help ensure our animals remain safe, calm, and protected when conditions turn harsh.
Because loyalty deserves care, in every season. 🐾💜
