Explore. Remember. Support. The New AWAMO Website Experience.

Our new website is live

and it’s built to honour the animals who served, saved lives and stood beside soldiers in history’s most difficult moments.

Dear friends and supporters of AWAMO,

Today, we are incredibly proud to share something very special with you – the launch of our brand-new Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation website.

This new home for AWAMO has been created with one heartfelt purpose: to ensure the animals who served alongside our soldiers are remembered, respected, and honoured for generations to come. From horses and mules to dogs, pigeons and beyond, their courage, loyalty and sacrifice deserve a permanent and meaningful place in history.

Our new website offers a richer, more engaging experience, including:

  • An inspiring new online hub dedicated to remembrance
  • The ability to donate online and support AWAMO’s ongoing projects
  • An interactive global map showcasing War Animal Memorials around the world
  • Exclusive AWAMO merchandise — with all proceeds supporting our mission
  • Educational resources to help young Australians learn about the role animals played in wartime service.

Every element has been thoughtfully designed to help preserve these important stories while connecting more people to the legacy of war animals.

We’d Love You to Explore

We invite you to take a look, discover what’s new, and share the site with others

who value remembrance and history as much as you do.

We need your support

In 2026, we will once again come together as a nation to honour the courage, loyalty and sacrifice of the animals who served beside our Defence Forces.

War Animal Day is an opportunity for communities, families, schools, veterans, animal lovers and supporters to unite in remembrance – and we would love your support in helping make 2026 our most meaningful year yet.

We’ll also be proudly represented in Canberra, where our President Nigel Allsopp will attend a very special ceremony at the Australian War Memorial on Tuesday 24 February, honouring the deeds and sacrifices of service and veteran animals

receiving the Australian Animal Distinguished Service Award, with the Governor-General in attendance. This will be an incredibly significant moment of national recognition, and we are honoured to be part of it.

How you can participate:

Host a War Animal Day Ceremony

If you are part of a community group, school, RSL, council, organisation or event team, we’d be honoured to support you in hosting a War Animal Day ceremony in 2026.

We will provide guidance, resources, marketing support, and promotionalassistance to help you create a meaningful and memorable event.

Thank you for standing with us, for remembering with us, and for helping ensure that the service of war animals is never forgotten.

Lest we forget – the animals, too.

Warm regards,
