Wendy was introduced to AWAMO through work with SBA Group, who were preparing to manufacture their collectible series Australian War Dogs in 2013. It was during this time that the Purple Poppy cause first came to her attention. Working with SBA, Wendy designed a number of products featuring the Purple Poppy, each including information about AWAMO to help spread awareness. Importantly, proceeds from these sales were donated to support AWAMO’s charitable work. In 2016, Wendy was invited to serve as AWAMO’s Treasurer — a role she accepted with enthusiasm. By 2026, Wendy had become one of AWAMO’s longest‑serving members, contributing over a decade of dedicated service across several roles, including Treasurer and Merchandise Officer. She played an active and influential part in bringing the Purple Poppy concept to Australians and strengthening national recognition of animals in war. AWAMO sincerely thanks Wendy for her commitment, creativity, and long-standing support. We wish her every success in her new ventures.

A number of Wendy’s family has served, grandfather in WW2, brother who was an Army engineer for more than 20 years and 2 nephews, 1 a Commando.

Wendy was introduced to AWAMO through my work at SBA Group who were looking to manufacture their collectible series ‘Australian War Dogs’ in 2013. It was then that the purple poppy cause was bought to her attention. Working with SBA Wendy designed a number of products using the purple poppy which included information about AWAMO to spread the word but more importantly donations from sales were given to help with their charitable works.

In 2016 Wendy was asked to serve as AWAMO’s Treasurer and has been in the position since. She has also designed a number of products that are exclusively AWAMO’s own, one being the Dual Poppy pin which is sold through RSL’s Australia wide, The Australian War Memorial and Shrine of Remembrance.
